Biography

Amy completed her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Northern Illinois University (2018). Amy completed her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northern Illinois University (2021).

Amy has prior experience working at the Community Counseling Training Center at NIU, where she primarily worked with college students. Additionally, Amy has prior experience working as a group facilitator for substance abuse counseling in an outpatient setting. Amy also has experience working with adolescents and adults experiencing depression, mood disorders, anxiety, social anxiety, stress-management, life transitions, anger management, career ambivalence, and relationship concerns.

Amy believes unconditional positive regard, empathy, and acceptance are essential to the therapeutic relationship. Amy takes an integrative approach to counseling but likes to utilize cognitive behavioral theory (CBT) and person-centered theory the most. Amy likes to work collaboratively with her clients to find an approach that best meets the presenting concerns of each unique individual.
